Regardless of the inappropriate usage of the phrase, the couch potato on us releases once we get to Netflix and start to relax for the next several hours. Propped up feet, relaxed on your favorite spot in the house, drinks and chips on your left, and an internet connection and you’re all set for binge watching this one series you promised to watch after finishing the one you just finished that same morning. Pulling out all-nighters and procrastinating the things you really have to do are, of course, part of the complete Netflix experience.

Netflix has produced and released countless series and movies around the world including the “Two Most Influential Netflix TV Series”, 13 Reasons Why and Stranger Things, which are both have a second season within this year. Netflix touched millions of its subscribers by giving the chance to watch exclusive TV shows and movies which can gain self-confidence and self-esteem especially to the millennials suffering on depression today. According to the statistics, 30 million Netflix accounts existed as of 2014 and can be doubled or tripled at the end of 2018. Netflix is also one of the first pay-TV services that can watch thru your mobile phones and tablets. As of today, Netflix were successfully penetrating the ASEAN Region including the Philippines. Netflix is consistently rising and giving constant flow of shows and movies that the young Filipinos want today. It is good to remove stress and escape from the reality for a while. Being a college student especially in an engineering course needs to have well balanced leisure time in order not easily exhausted and depressed. However, in reality, most students and the digital generation, they allotting almost 5 to 6 hours a day in order to suffices their curiosity and to finish the whole series.

As a college student, I was able to see the firsthand effect on these online streaming networks especially at school. There are many times that my friend was constantly watching a certain episode on corner of our room because my professor was absent on that day. Also, sleep deprivation is one of the problems here because of urgency to finish the series, almost 4 to 5 hours were their allotted time in order to meet the 7am to 8am class.

Time management is very important in our life especially on students. We should be more responsible enough to handle our time properly because every second counts. The time that we spend watching a movie or TV series can literally robbed our time that can never be got back. It is also perfect for the some AiTECH students who are savoring the moment of almost 2-month long vacation even if PAGASA officially declares the rainy season, as of today. Netflix is like a beer and wine that need to be consumed responsibly in order to prevent the negative effects get back to our body.
